RIAI Architecture Award 2010 for Best Public Building
A high profile civic project that combined conservation with modern new build.
The works consisted of the demolition of a number of existing structures, restoration and conservation of an existing stone building, construction of a new library, an area office, a courthouse extension and an energy centre.
The internal fitout was completed to a very high standard of finish with full floor and wall finishes, extensive fitted furniture and joinery packages, high M&E specification in term of heating, ventilation, lighting, IT etc.
The project also included external works comprising of contaminated soil removal, hard and soft landscaping, ancillary site structures, foul and surface water drainage and site utilities.
The works were carried out for Limerick County Council and the building serves as one of their main area offices along with it’s courthouse and local library functions.
