This project involved the construction of an 1,800m² extension to an existing 1970′s secondary school, the demolition of an older primary school on the same site, and extensive modifications to the existing buildings. The structure of the new building, which is laid out in several one and two storey blocks, consisted of a mixture of load bearing blockwork and concrete frame, all fair faced. Upper floors are precast hollow-core units and roofs are generally comprised of Kalzip standing seam aluminium on curved steel trusses.

The existing building is constructed on several levels on the side of a hill overlooking the town. An existing open courtyard was turned into an enclosed atrium, with a lift shaft, balconies and stairs to connect the various levels to that of the new extension. There was a two month window to carry out this work together with the re-fitting of a number of classrooms, including the woodwork room and a laboratory.
