This project entailed a 3,000m2 major refurbishment of an existing 19th Century listed building of national importance carried out in an urban / residential environment.
Works consisted of the removal of the existing lime plaster while retaining the period mouldings which were intact, replacing the damaged sections. Existing pitch pine flooring was carefully removed and reinstated later following floor structure strengthening and fire proofing works. Existing box sash windows and panelled doors were removed, refurbished and fire proofed. The courtroom seating was refurbished and altered to allow for disabled access. New floor finishes include a locally sourced limestone tile to public areas. Wall finishes involved extensive use of lime plaster along with the use of a specialist heritage paint finish.
A new mezzanine floor was introduced in one area to provide additional office space. The basement area was treated with an internal water proofing membrane and provided space for a new family law courtroom.
